Proper United?
Amad attended a pre-match player press conference at UCLA on Tuesday. It had been arranged some time ago for it to be a player-only sit-down ahead of the Real Betis game on Wednesday and Amad is a positive and current story for United.
The 22-year-old has not done much media but has already ticked off the mixed zone and now stepped onto a dais to address the dedicated correspondents and some tenuous media members. Amad is softly spoken and he had to consult the press officer for clarity on a couple of questions but was good value.
Good on him. For he has done more external media than Mason Mount, a 25-year-old who has played in Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Club World Cup and European Championship finals, as well as a World Cup, has since he joined United last year.
We have spoken to Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen, Tom Heaton, Andre Onana and Jonny Evans so far on tour. United are not running out of senior players but they do seem to have run out of senior players prepared to speak.
